Film will not go away completely, but I have no doubt it will become
a special interest niche product and priced accordingly and available
only at professional photography shops and on the internet. I don't
see that there is any reason that cheap film cameras will stay
around. There is very little difference in loading a memory card or a
roll of film and both can be taken to a processor who can provide
prints. The default settings on a digital P&S mean that you seldom
have to go into a menu. And for some reason people like waving them
about at arms length looking at the LCD.
