May I suggest something like this:

I like birds, even the tasty ones, but I really hate to see them
get their brains scrambled for no good reason. The plain black (cheaper)
ones work well also but are a bit of an eyesore.

That looks like the marks (several) that we have on one of our
windows in the den. Our birds must hit harder though as we've lost 4
or 5 mourning doves and a hummer so far this summer.
