In my experience, Scott, those are the symptoms of a dead battery (and most
probably, it's an alkaline one, rather than a silver oxide, to make matters
worse). But they could also be the symptoms of something else. You could
ask the seller to put a new battery in and report the result - but he might
then also report the new price.
If the price is right, it's worht considering for its unique spot metering
ability. Not that it is the only OM body to have spot metering, it's just
the implementation on the 2S is unique.
But keep in mind that if it is dead, it's likely to stay that way.

Subject: [OM] OM 2s - just needs a battery?
Hey! An on topic post! In fact, we may want to consider using "OT"
as a subject prefix for such.
I'm looking at buying a OM 2s that has a "problem" described thusly:
"The problem is that the shutter only works on the bulb or flash synch
settings. On all other shutter settings, the mirror flips up, but the
curtain doesn't move, and the mirror stays up. You move it back to the flash
settings, and the mirror comes down and everything works again."
I'm thinking this is symptomatic of a dead battery. True/False?
Am I missing something or should I just buy it?
TIA!/ScottGee1
