In a word, yeah. Anything good for holding a gun is good for steadying a
camera. Also, they're all topped with a threaded 1/4 inch tripod bolt, or
screw, or whatever you choose to call it. I occasionally attach the little
ballhead from the Cullmann travel kit to mine, which works great. With longer
lenses, the fork thingy works really, really well, even with the 300/2.8 Tammy.
And that "patented leg-lock system" works like a charm. When not a monopod,
they're great hiking sticks.
