And... My bellows are at the moment separated from their rail, which is
in use with the focusing stage. In that circumstance, it is obvious that
their relaxed state is collapsed (sort of like mine). If actually used
occasionally, I think storage in that lowest tension state would promote
longest life.
If used seldom to almost never, somewhere slightly extended might be
better. I say that from experience opening folding camera bellows that
have been stored for many years compressed and unused. But perhaps they
would be fragile no matter how stored.
