Which is about as far as I'll go under water. Could I just use
the camera as-is for snorkeling?

I spent a few minutes playing with Joel's C8080. It's
unfortunate the 2/3" 8MP genre has fizzled. That is one of the
finest cameras around--of any category. I think that in 10
years it might be considered a "classic" along with the E-1.
For professional use, the camera lacks some walk+chew
cababilities like my A1 has, but it's a camera I could
comfortably use as my primary walkabout camera.
The biggest advantage I see to Olympus compact digitals is the
live-view monitor. It looks great and it has little to no
perceptable delay.
