The 90mm / f2 macro lens in combination with film on board an OM body [in my
case an OM4T] invites precision focusing and can produce crystal clear and
sharp images.
The same lens mounted on my E500 using an MF-1 adapter is an entirely different
experience not having anywhere near as much precision in focusing through the
viewfinder. Whether the the resulting images are as sharp and as crystal clear
as those via the film route is matter of chance.
I learned the other day that Olympus offers a dedicated 50 / f2 macro lens for
its E series digital bodies.
Are there any list members who have had an opportunity to compare 90mm / f2
macro film images with those produced digitally with the 50 / f2 lens and can
comment on their findings?
It seems to me that the precision of focusing with the E500 is no where near
that which can be achieved with an OM4T. At least that is my experience.
