Hello,
I'm sorry for being OT, but while I was waiting to find an Olympus 35 RC, RD
or SP (they are pretty rare in France, as far as I can tell), I came by a
Canonet ; the seller thought it was broken, so I had it for nearly nothing.
As things turned out, it's in fact almost in working order. I unjammed it,
cleaned the hazy viewfinder, tested it with a battery, and it works. But the
sealing foam is as bad as can be (to the point it has starded to leave
permanent marks on the chromes...). So I cleaned most of it with naphta, but
the QL system stand in the way, and there are places around the back hinge
that are not reachable. But I can't figure out how (if it's possible) to
release the QL system from the back.
So, as I know some of the readers here sometimes have non-olympus cameras, I
was wondering if someone faced and solved the same problem. Any help would be
appreciated. Of, course, I've already done my google-homework, but didn't
found something useful - it maybe that I wasn't looking in the right
direction, though. All the sites I looked were along the line of 'clean and
replace the rotten foam' wich didn't help a bit. Of course, with hours of
patience, I might be able to clean this place with a tooth pick, but if I can
have it done with Q-tips, it would be a lot easier.
TIA,
