I had a first cousin whose arm was pulled in between the V belts and
drive pulley of a corn combine. The engine stalled with his arm
trapped, the bones in his forearm crushed, and blood pouring. After
sizing up the situation for a few minutes he got out his pocket
knife, opened it with his teeth and cut off the trapped part of his
arm. A "field hand" arrived about that time and helped Waylon get a
belt tightened around his arm to slow the bleeding but was too shook
up to drive him to the hospital. He did ride along with Waylon as a
passenger though. I think he helped with the shifting.
Later,
Johnny
