I'm getting bored of my scanner Minolta DiMage Dual IV. I couldn't
find a scanning procedure that can compete with the quality from labs'
scanner or digital camera. The color is usually dull comparing to
other people's images. Even though I can adjust some properties in the
scanner's software to make my image shine, it's usually over colorful
and hard to get exactly right and sometimes noise noticeably appears
when I apply too much unsharpmasked. Now, I believe I'm addicted with
unsharpmasked, since it's the only command in PS that I can quickly
apply and create big changes within one click. Wose than that, the
autofocus of the scanner often hang its scanner software or even
vuescan, I have to pull the usb off and on to reset everything, so
very annoying that makes me turn off the autofocus thing, I don't know
if it only occurs to me.
I'm gonna change my scanner real soon. I would like to see a big
improvement but I don't want to spend much on it, which one should I
consider ? I've heard good comments on Minolta Elite 5400 II, does it
really better than Dual IV, I doubt it because their spec in paper are
not that much different ? How about the older one like PhotoSmart S20
or some flatbeds ? Actually, I'm looking for the scanner doesn't
neccesary give high DPI, like those expensive models, but can produce
colorful images and match easily with various types of film.
