I've tried this in the past and don't seem to 'get' something. If I
point and focus on the object, then I have a double image of my
finger and when I check by closing one eye and then the other, my
finger seems to be pointing equidistantly to either side of the
object. If I focus on my finger then I have a double image of the
object and can't point at it! So, where is the test?
Incidently, I am strongly left-eye dominant and the 'test' does no
reflect this in any way. I had hoped to switch after I had my eyes
lasered but the procedure left my right eye slightly weaker (L +0.25,
R +0.5) so that became moot. If I attempt to use my right eye, then
not only is it softer but the focussing response is slower (it
'hunts' a bit).
