By the time Vista actually is available for purchase, Walt will be
shopping for another computer. No worries there. :-p
The advice everyone else has provided is good, especially buying
from Dell Small Business (if you're going to buy a Dell, which is
rapidly approaching being the Wal-Mart of the computer world) and
making the hard drives independent.
One piece of advice I haven't seen so far is to get the RAM in two
larger sticks instead of four half-meg sticks. With four you've
filled up the RAM slots and you'll be throwing away memory if you
choose to add memory later. With two sticks you'll still have two
slots open for more memory if you decide you want/need it. Buying it
in two sticks will cost a little more, but this is no $799 special
you're buying here. It won't cost that much more.
