It sounds as if you know more about computers than you let on, Walt.
I would not bother with the floppy drive: I had to use one today at
work, and it was an unpleasant experience. A USB flash drive would
surely do the trick nicely.
And apart from lacking a parallel port, a dual-core Intel Powermac
would do you nicely, when they arrive on the scene (someone had to
suggest it ;-)).
My wife has just bought a Mac Mini with the Intel processor, but she
has had me brainwashing her for years (it doesn't work for everything
though ;-))
