I don't have that lens, but my guess is the red line is for infra-red
focusing. When using IR film frame the shot and focus as normal then
before taking the photo re-adjust the focus point from the green to the red
line.
The reason for this IIRC is that IR waves are longer (or shorter?) than
light waves.
