Um, yeah. Something like that.
FRS radios are these low-cost FM type radios with a typical
range of up to two miles. If you use the licensed versions, the
range is more like five. I do have one spare if it's a
"show-stopper" issue for anyone.
A set of two usually runs for $40-50 and run on AAA batteries or
a NiMH battery pack.
Just a side note, Isle Royale has no bear, deer or skunks. I'm
trying to recall whether or not it even has squirrels! There
are beaver and tons of birds. The moose/wolf population is
actually pretty high since they don't have to compete with other
large grazers and preditators. Yet, due to the island's size,
the population is self-regulating.
