Well, I guess that's that.
Well, as they say in the old country, "It ain't over, until it is over." As
are others, I find myself a bit disappointed with the news (assuming it is
correct). I am however, fairly heavily invested in the e-1 system, am pleased
with much of what it offers and am unwilling to take a bath on this system
to change to a completely new one, which would also be a compromise for what I
want.
Canon would be the choice if I were going to jump ship. Let's say I sold a
couple of OM 4Ts, an OM 4, three OM 3s, a bunch of various OM 2 and 1s and a
few OMPCs, essentially all the Macro flash units, about 25+ Zuiko or OM
compatible lenses and a truck load of other OM gadgets and doo dads. Oh, and
an
e-1 kit which includes 5 lenses and other gadgets and doo dads. Assuming,
that I have done all that, what would I be able to buy from Canon that would
replace this. Would I have a more versatile system or would a just have a
stripped down system with some more megapixels and image stabilization, but no
sensor cleaning technology. Yep, that is what I'd have and I'm not willing to
go there right now. The time may come that Canon figures out how to keep
their sensors clean and Olympus either limps along or gets out of the game and
I will change, but until then, I'll just keep dancing with the girl who came
with me and having fun doing it. Bill Barber
