Yes, I had a recipe for that too and did make up some various batches of it.
Basically you need some type of juice and salt.
If I got dehydrated and was out of rehydration solution I found the hideously
sweet orange drink I could buy in Laos (and probably in Thailand too) was
really good for restoring me. Basically a super sweet tang like drink as you
mention. It's great for getting your energy up when you've been sick and not
able to eat much.
