I don't think robbed is quite the way I would put it. It's an auction
and somebody else was willing to pay more than you were. That's how it
works. And by the way, the cost of assembling an Oly kit went down
considerable when the 'Bay got going.

So again, that's his free market right, to buy from a willing seller at
what he perceives to be a good price and try to sell at a higher price.
He takes the entire risk of misjudging and taking a loss. Just because
he may set high BIN prices doesn't mean that anyone is forced to pay
them. There is lots of Oly gear in the sea.
And then, neither of these items is the best available, nor is buying
items in the box the most cost effective way to get your gear.
- Collectors have bid up the price of very clean to new items with
original box, packing, etc. well above the cost of similar items without
box. If you are buying to use, the box auctions aren't for you. i
actually think he did get a good price on these items with boxes, etc.
Sold separately, I'll bet they go for over $100 total.
- Although the front of the lens isn't shown, the box says "ZUIKO MC
AUTO-S", which probably means the lens inside is good, but not the best
version of the 50/1.4 made.
- The 55 mm close-up lens will not fit the 50/1.4, which takes 49 mm
filters, so the two pieces in the auction don't work together. Unless
you have other Zuikos with which you wish to use the 55 mm CU lens, you
were saved from a problem.
- The CU lenses made for the OM lenses are single element. Not bad, but
not as good as the two element ones made for the IS series of ZSLRs. If
you want a first quality CU lens for Oly 49mm filter thread lenses, keep
a lookout for the Oly "A-Macro f=40cm", it's a better lens. Better yet
is an extention tube or tubes.
Another really good choice is the Vivitar 2x Macroteleconverter. It
converts a 50/1.4 lens into a 100/2.8 macro that focuses from infinity
to 1:1. I carry one quite often. I have a spare for sale, if you want one.
