A 32 year-old man set a new record for cliff jumping on skis. He made a 245
foot jump off the back side of Grand Targhee in Wyoming. The guy came down
head first and his only injury was a cut lip. The event was filmed by Teton
Gravity Research so we will see it sometime. The previous record was by a
man from New Zealand who made a 225 footer.
I watched guys jumping off cliffs at Teton Village about 10 days ago but not
the high ones. They were doing about 40 footers. Rather than ski off cliffs,
I managed to ski into a hole at Big Sky last weekend. I was glad I had my
knee brace on because the joint would have exploded without it. It tried to
anyway and is still sore. I might be getting too old to ski in the trees.
