Q - F versus FT (e.g., FT uses mercury batteries, stand alone light meter
for F)?
A - F has a brighter screen, but requires a double-stroke to advance the
film, much like the original Leica M3.
Q - Repairability (e.g., to what extent are they economically repairable;
what problems to avoid)?
A - John H. offers complete overhaul on Pens - the FT is converted to
silver battery (1.5v) as part of this: http://www.zuiko.com/PAGE5.HTML
Q - Buying F/FT lenses (e.g., is element separation is a concern; should
one stay away from the older zuikos)?
A - The 'pancake' 38 has become horribly expensive. I haven't seen any signs
of separation problems in any of my four lenses.
Q - Grateful for any wisdom the group might like to share.
A - Great, QUIET little cameras that deliver full size results, IF you have
your
own darkroom, or are prepared to scan negatives. Otherwise, I think you're
stuck with custom printing of the half-frame negs. Maybe someone else has a
source. Film processing is no problem ...remember to ask them not to cut
the negs.
