I not only use NiMH in all my flash units but I would recommend them to
anyone. However, if you've never used NiMH batteries before be aware
that they typically have a 1-3% *per day* self-discharge rate. Leave
them sit unused for a month and when you go back to them there will be
next to nothing left of the original charge. Sort of like the OM-2s and
original OM-4 battery problems but on steroids.
Using NiMH batteries requires a little planning ahead on your part.
Keep some alkalines around for when you forget. Fortunately, for me at
least, flash photography tends to be something pre-planned and I try to
charge up a dozen NiMH AA's a day ahead of time.
