I agree with Walt on the Kenny Rogers thing:
"Knowing your rights and insisting upon them is a good thing, but, like the
old Kenny Rogers song says, you got to know when to hold 'em and know when
to fold 'em."
I was out a couple of months ago looking to shoot barns, shacks, anything
that looked run down. I happen upon a dilapidated shack. I pull off onto
the shoulder, setup the tripod and start shooting. I don't think I'm on
private property, I am definitely not touching the fence. The following
occurs:
A rather tough looking lady yells out "Whatja Doin'"
Me - Taking pictures
She "Ya know, this is private property, ya didn't get permission. I want
the royalties."
Me - Uh, I don't sell my pictures (and I don't, they aren't good enough).
She -"F*ck You" (as she is headed into the hog shed).
Since I already had a few shots I figured that before she gets a shotgun
out, I'll exit stage left. I show off the pic to my friends, and give them
the story. It makes the picture look better.
