Thanks Johan, I have managed to get it to work.
But I had to accept "All available applications" under "Other",
whatever I do with the application-matching part of the Info box.
However, I can open a batch of files like this so that I don't have
to go into the dialogue box every time I want to open a file.
The tools look quite useful, but I can't get the hang of the Tone
Curve; it's a histogram combined with a Curves control graph. Since
I have never really got to grips with it in PS, I am unlikely to be
able to use it here.
It's also a little annoying that the EXIF values are saved only if
you save the resulting file as a JPEG-EXIF. The date of shooting is
lost in JPEG or TIFF files.
