Subject: [OM] It's here! And an answer to a question...
My E-1 kit was waiting for me when I got home tonight. :-) Sure is
purty ... and not as big as I'd been led to believe (I've only ever seen
and handled an E-500). It's warming up (it was about 32 degrees F/0
degrees C today). Tomorrow I will charge it. I'm _really_ looking
forward to trying it out!
The question was asked on the List about how many factory-demo lenses
there could be out there to include in as many kits as Cameta seems to
be selling. It will be interesting to see what Martyn gets in his box.
My kit featured the E-1 box and one box for each lens.
The 40-150 comes in an unmarked brown box with a sticker on it
describing the lens, a hand-written serial number, and the words
"Factory Demo".
The 14-45 is in a blue-and-white Olympus box labeled "Reconditioned"
with a sticker describing the lens, a hand-written serial number, and
the notation "Refurbished Product" along with a date (05/04/05 on this
lens).
So the two lenses are from different sources. I don't think I care much.
Both have a 90-day warranty. And I've never been burned purchasing a
refurbished product. Not that it couldn't ever happen; it just has not
been my experience.
So -- Martyn, if you're reading this, it will be interesting to see what
they sent you.
More details and some pictures this weekend after I have a chance to
shoot a few frames.
Steve
