Greetings Everyone! I am new to using this group but I am not new to using
great Olympus cameras. Until recently I was new to owning my own Olympus
though.
I recently purchased my first camera, the Olympus E-500. I have always
loved my girlfriends different Oly cameras. The picture quality on their
past cameras and affordable price sold me on choosing their new E-500 as my
first DSLR.
I got the 2 lens kit in early December and just ordered a 14-54 lens last
night. I am really hoping this new lens will give me brighter pictures
without the flash. A faster auto-focus wouldn't be terrible and the reviews
I have read say that is better too. I also want to get some head shots of
my girlfriend...portraits. I will soon find out if it was a good purchase
but what do the folks that have both already think?
I noticed people were talking about the 50mm F2 lens as being great. I
really like to zoom in and out and it just didn't seem like it would be as
much fun, but it does look like it lets in a lot of light.
I also have an FL-36 flash on order/in the mail. Will I be happy with not
moving up to the FL-50? I didn't think I would ever use an external power
supply for the flash. Is 36 sweet?
I was using my buddies Canon 20D all last night. It sure can fire fast, but
I really like the design of the E-500 much better! The only thing I even
liked about his camera was the multiple autofocus points and quick fire. It
didn't have a good interface IMO. Go Olympus!
Cheers!
Allen
