I think they have. The D200 outspecs the 20D in almost every area and
the 30D in most areas except those related to sensor size.
You seem to have bought the myth that some sensors, size parameters
equalized, are significantly less noisy than others. It is all noise
reduction. Nikon just gives you a choice of how much you want to keep
without sacrificing the image. Canon doesn't.
