With the 16mm I find myself limited by trying to keep both the sun and
my shadow out of the shot and still keep the camera level. This is
necessary in order to maintain a straight horizon and minimize
distortion. So this leaves the two options of either 90deg left or right
of the sun. (also maybe straight up). Of course to each their own. I
prefer to minimize the distortion, others may choose to work with it. My
shot from Hat Point was made using the 16mm. In this case I was standing
up on the FS lookout tower so there was no shadow. (see E OR Album)
