>Thank you, and I think the package went back to you (starting at this end)
>by US Post Office, not UPS.<
USPS did fine -- they got the package to the UK within a couple of days. The
problems started in Coventry, where Parcelfarce's "international hub" is
actually the UPS facility. Inbound international parcels clear UK Customs
here, or at least they do when folks can be bothered to do what they're paid
to do. It took eight days and about 40 telephone calls before UPS and
Customs got their act together. I particularly enjoyed the immortal line
"Oh, most e-mails sent here go astray. We don't really worry about it" from
a UPS supervisor.
Having resolved that, UPS finally got round to passing the package to
Parcelfarce -- who promptly mis-read an SY post code as ST and sent it to
Stoke-on-Trent sorting office rather than Shrewsbury!
I thoroughly enjoyed driving 80 miles on a filthy wet day to collect my
package. I enjoyed paying a £13.50 "release fee" even more.
