John,
They are cute...and very likable creatures (almost as much as the
hedgehogs...:). I think the one that sat on your knee was scared. When
scared, they are very "irrational". I had an incident with a young squirrel in
an open field once. It was so scared that saw the only possible way to run
away from me by going between my legs...
You probably gave it cows milk, which is bad for squirrels, because it does not
have the right nutrition for them. Also, they can't keep their body
temperature and need constant source of heat, which was the probable cause for
it to pass away.
As I said in my previous mail, we would have liked to keep him longer, but that
would interfere with the proper release and we couldn't . The doctor told us
that he was about to open his eyes, which was kinda upsetting for our son,
because he wanted the squirrel to see and remember us...:)

P.S. I know that lately I have been braking all kinds of grammar rules, but I
can't figure why either...

Very cute. We had a similar incident in our back yard. A baby squirrel
came hopping up to me as I sat at the picnic table. It climbed up my jeans
leg and sat on my knee looking at me making a little 'chuck' sound. We
tried feeding with a dropper, but maybe he was pushed out of the nest (for a
reason). He passed in a few hours.
