It's a bit cryptic about exactly what will be affected in the camera
line but it's clear that digital camera price erosion has hit them badly
and they are retreating to "core" high value added businesses.
I think they need to quickly clarify their intentions in the DSLR
market. The KM 7D was their highest value digital camera but was also
badly hit by price erosion like the E-1. In July they announced
collaboration with Sony for production of DSLR's using the KM mount.
But it's not clear what this means in the light of the latest
announcement. It's about time for the long rumored 9D to be announced.
