There is an alkaline replacement battery that is the same size and shape
as the original mercury battery but I don't know that there is such a
thing in silver oxide. You can use ordinary silver oxide 357 cells but
you must put a small spacer ring in the battery compartment to hold the
cell centered. You can probably find a washer, O-ring or short length
of plastic pipe at the hardware store that will be suitable.
