Since fungus is so pervasive, perhaps weaker cleaner ( than bleach ) 
might do the job.

Regardless of what you try, I suggest testing on a small area first. 
Especially on valuable items.

I'm currently trying the sunshine test on a Tamron lens & hard leather 
case. The smell may be going from the case. I hope to know more in a 
week or so. However I don't hold much hope for success.
