When I lived in Florida I used to work for the US Fish & WIldlife
Service as a "Roving Interpreter". Your story reminds me of the
trepidation I felt the first few times I encountered a large (10-11
foot) alligator on a narrow levee where there was no alternative to
passing very close by. It took me a few times to realize that the gator
just really doesn't care.
