An OM-30 (OM-F) is similar in construction to a 10 or a G. Impact around
the mode switch (which may appear as hairline cracks in the top cover
(plastic) around the mode knob can crack the circuit underneath. Also, a
loose collar around the switch, or loose screws under the knob may cause
intermittent contact.
OM-2/2N is much more complex. Most/all electronics concerning auto/manual
speeds are found under the mirror.
