Got the E10 this afternoon. Had a heck of a long and crazy workday, with
another long one ahead, so very limited play time..
1. Keh grading, as usual, is fantastic. Not a mark to be seen on the
camera, immaculate glass, and they called it a BGN! Also included lens
caps and hood in great condition even though none was specified in the
listing (so I have an extra LH-1 hood which I also ordered from them,
5$ shipped to any listie).
2. The thing exudes professional build quality. Everything, the way it
looks, the way buttons have a positive click, the damped command/sub
wheels. Cold hard metal. Lots of it. Very Very Nice. The whole side of the
camera that falls in the right hand is a work of art. Curves and angles in
the right place :)
3. Fits fantastically in the hand, rubber grip is just right, all the
buttons are under the right fingers and everything is set easily w/o
delving into menus (press, and roll dial); the variable settings on the
image quality presets is particularly awesome. Oh the shutter release.
INCREDIBLE. Speaker and beeps turn off, silent except for the "krrrrrrr"
stepper focus motor.
4. Very nice viewfinder, I can see the whole image plus display, and
manual focus is easy to eyeball.
5. Reading about all the above is one thing, to actually see it in person
is to marvel at some very smart design choices.
6. How do I check what firmware revision I have? User's guide makes no
mention of it. Where can I download new firmware and how to install it (no
mention on OlyUSA site).
7. Do high-speed cards matter? Using a non=speedy Crucial 128mb CF, and
even 1/8 640*480 jpgs take a while to write (card activity blinking). Just
curious.
8. $235 well spent. Now, to do some photographic tests this week..
