I wouldn't necessarily consider a lens that sticks out about 3 inches (past
the right hand grip) and has a 62mm filter diameter as "monstrous". It's
definitely a bigger hunk of a camera body than an OM-1, then again, what modern
body
isn't? The blending of the body into the lens is very subtle, so it all goes
nicely together. You kind of can't exactly tell where the body ends and the
lens begins. Anyone used to being shot with a modern SLR and lens combo won't
be intimidated, IMO.
