I have tried a Sigma 400mm f5.6 APO. Compact, well constructed, nice.
But the pics were rather soft, and lacking in contrast. I have let it
go, I will try to buy something better later.
Somebody on dpreview showed some weeks ago bird pics taken with the
E-1 and 300mm and 400mm manual Nikon lenses, I don't remember which
ones exactly. The pics taken with the 400mm(400/2.8 ?) in particular
were stunning by their detail.
He was using the Camaraquest adapter - I wouldn't dare using the
aluminium foto-akcesoria adapter for these big lenses.
