I gave up trying to shoot Mars 30 years ago. Too hard even with a
Celestron 8. If I wanted a starter scope today I'd forget the
photography angle (it's all difficult) and get the largest RFT or near
RFT you can afford. A Dobsonian will save money but I don't like
Newtonian reflectors with non-rotating tubes and most Dobsonians don't
seem to have rotating tubes.
