Indeed, wider would be better. 24mm is fine for 35mm and, probably, 1Ds.
BTW, I tried a Nikon 85 T/S shortly after they were introduced and
wasn't impressed. The image circle on that copy didn't cover extreme
movement. But then I was using it with a full frame camera - 35mm.
