Prism blackout is a function of the geometry of the prisms, not the material.
By using shallower angles in the prisms (split-prisms or microprisms), you
can get the blackout point to be at smaller f stops. You lose precision, though.
I'm not an E-1 owner (yet), but I hope these screens work well. It seems like
such an obvious accessory it's hard to understand why Olympus doesn't have
one of their own.
