Too true. And it brings up something that many don't consider when
buying a UPS: that most lower-cost UPS systems depend solely on
filtering to protect against lightning's EMF effects. Better to spend a
bit more and buy a regenerative UPS, where line power is never directly
transmitted to the system. While I'm not gonna claim this will protect
against all EMF effects, it's at least one additional layer of defense.
