Let's see here; my travel OM4 kit (OM4T, 24/2, 135/3.5) weighs in at
1080g. Yup, less than E-1+14-54, and I reckon a fair bit smaller. On a
recent trip, though, I took the E-1 kit, and an XA as a pocket-sized
camera for walking around, because the XA is great, and much smaller
than anything else.
The E-1 is bigger, definitely, but the grip's so well designed that I
don't really notice in use, it's so easy to hold -- the ergonomics in
general are just great, except for the one-touch WB button which I tend
to accidentally hit from time to time.
Oh, and I've been taking advantage of the waterproofness of the E-1 --
we went down to Niagara Falls, so here's a panoramic shot of the falls
from below (and a few others while I'm at it)

(of course, while the camera is waterproof enough to use in a
downpour, that doesn't solve the problem of water on the lens..)
