It sounds like the rear mount section of the lens is a bit loose. I checked
mine and there's no play at all like the person described. Looking at the
parts diagrams it shows that the barrel with the DOF markings is held to a
rear mounting section using four screws. I bet those screws have worked
themselves loose. It doesn't look like a DIY fix.
