OK, Ag, you've got me confused. By "dot-spread" do you really mean "dot
gain"? Dot gain is usually defined as the spreading of dots of ink when
printing on a printing press--like an offset web press, for example--and
it's a pretty old term. As far as I know it is caused by the various
characteristics of ink, paper and the press itself--which I *think* is
what you're describing below. So if that's what ya mean, I getcha.
Otherwise, I'm mystified.
