There are many possibilities, one of which might be that someone, either the
photographer or their survivor just wanted to put that part of their life
behind them. Although they couldn't bear to bring the images forward, they
also couldn't just throw them away.
The camera and film could have been mailed home from New York and become
lost in the mail and later purchased as lost property.
Regardless of what the "real" story is, it would make an interesting topic
for a literary piece.

PS - Hmmm, wonder if there are any images I have stashed away that I need
to deal with now so someone else won't have to when I go to my greater reward.
You know the answer, if you are asking the question. One day I'll do
that. Oh, procrastination is another possibility. They just never carried
them
over to the drug store to get processed.
