There actually is a B&W converter out there that mimicks films,
developers and paper types. Sounds very interesting. However,
there is still something missing:
Two stops of additional dynamic response on each end during
digital capture to properly mimick the shoulder and toe. You
can pretend to create a shoulder and toe, but in digital, these
occur where normal tonal response happens.
