Corrupting influence of money on medicine:

Rep. Nick Smith was offered a bribe of $100, 000 of pharmaceutical
company money for endorsing the Medicare Prescription bill and told
everyone about it and then refused to talk about it further when his
son's future political career was threatened by Tom Delay. The bill
was passed at 3AM with provisions to provide subsidies to drug
companies and to health care providers and taking out provisions that
would allow buying drugs from Canada or even using the buying power
of the government to bargain the price down. It was all over the
newspapers. Tom Delay was censured three times for ethics violations
by the House ethics committee and then he replaced the chair of the
committee and several members who had either taken money from his PAC
or who had contributed money to his legal defense fund.
Heard of Enron? Ken Lay, the CEO, who contributed huge political
contributions to Bush since his Texas days and was nicknamed Kenny
Boy by the President. Later Bush denied he had ever met him. My
electricity bill went from an average of $36/month to over $250/month
for several months due to fraud by Enron. People on the west coast
were swindled out of billions of dollars. When California went to the
White House and to the commission that regulates energy prices we
were essentially told to GFY to use the Vice President's phrase.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ken Lay, and the Republican National Committee
met during the energy crisis and planned how to use it to replace the
governor with a Republican.
And there is the Social Security "crisis" which requires the economy
to grow less than 2 percent over the next 40 years to happen, but
somehow investments in the stockmarket are going to grow an average
of 6 to 8 percent in the same economy.
It goes on and on. All reported in major newspapers. No one believes
in any secret conspiracy by the right. They are telling you about it
all the time. If you are unaware of it or think it is the product of
some "fringe", you need to educate yourself.
