I don't think anyone is cooking up conspiracy theories about
anything, unless you mean that Eli Lillly has probably conspired to
protect their interests by sponsoring legislation to shield
themselves before making it public that one of their products might
pose a health hazard. That's pretty much SOP for any large
corporation, though. As far as the left vs. right thing goes, that's
just how the game is played. When you're in power you do whatever you
can to advance your causes and (left or right) nobody worries too
much about trampling the opposition. Folks on the right didn't like
seeing Roe v. Wade any more than folks on the left like seeing the
EPA dismantled. It's just the way the world spins. The ideology of my
group is abhorrent to someone else's and vice-versa.
But that "lawyer" that wrote the article on Thymerosol told a group
of us in Marin county a couple of months ago that he's thinking of
running in 2008. You never know how fast dominant ideology can
change. ;-)
