If you don't find a suitable Dremel, or have trouble finding one in NZ,
ask about for a lapidary supplies or jewelry supplies house. They
generally stock a much more robust tool of the same general sort--a kind
of small motor-and-flex-shaft that hangs from a stand, usually. The
downside is they're generally more expensive. The upside is that they're
also usually more sturdy and many are even user-repairable. Some
lapidary and jewelry supplies shops may even stock the Dremel (or
equivalent) variety, now.

Subject: [OM] OT the Walt universal hand-tool? OT ( not deWalt)
Hi all,
I encountered a little repair [non-camera ;-) ] problem and it crossed
my mind that a Dremel tool would be the way to go for finicky grinding
and polishing.
