I know it isn't cool to respond to your own posts, but I wanted
to add a couple of thoughts:
The E-1 proved to be outstanding for this assignment. Without
the weather sealing I wouldn't have attempted this or a number
of other shots with a non-sealed DSLR. The E-1 frees me from
having to utilize a shower-cap on the camera whenever the
weather is happening.
Noise is a non-issue. A little bit of Noiseware whacks the noise
down enough for perfectly usable prints for almost any
PUBLICATION need. In the "film days" we never had it this good.
In fact, I forgot to use the noise reduction mode (dark frame
subtraction) in these shots.
The "anti-shake" feature of the E-1, which is a shutter delay is
awesome. I will usually have it set on one or two seconds. Nice
cable-release substitute.
I honestly tried to kill the battery in the E-1. Over 450
pictures, complete with time-exposures and lots of chimping
still didn't whack the battery.
Auto WB is worthless once the sun sets. You need to jump to a
daylight or tungstun WB to keep it from going too blue.
The E-1 might not be perfect, but you can do a whole lot worse.
